The kingdom of Nepal lies in the mighty Himalayas sharing the border with Tibet region of China in the north and Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal in the east and Biher, Utter Pradesh in the west and south. Nepal’s civilization dates back thousands of years before the birth of Christ. Katmandu is the capital of Nepal. It is believed that the indigenous settlers of Katmandu were Kirantis who were succeeded by Lichhavis who in turn were succeeded by the Mallas. Katmandu valley covers an area of 218 sq miles and it is situated at 4423 ft above sea level. The Shah Dynasty ascended the throne in the year 1769. The present king, His Majesty Gyenandra Bir Bikram Shah Deva is the 11th king of Nepal. Nepal is a country of highest mountains. It is the world’s highest mountain Everest is found. Other prominent Himalayan peaks over 8000mtrs are Saarmatha, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna. The places of interest in and around the Katmandu valley are Machhendra Nath Temple, Hanuman Dhoka, Durbar Square, Statue of King Pratap Malla, Temple House of Kumari, The National Museum, Pashupatinath Temple, and the legendary Swayambhunath and followed by special interest of cycling, wildlife and river rafting etc.
Day1 Arrive Paro International Airport: Afternoon drive to Drukgyel Dzong (a ruined fortress built in1649. Mt. Jomulhari can be seen on a clear day and walk through the typical Bhutanese farmhouse.
Day2 Paro-Thimphu (2 hrs): Morning you will see the Ta-Dzong (National museum) and Rimpung Dzong built in 1645. Afternoon drive to Thimphu capital of Bhutan, it takes 2-hour drive along the Paro and Thimphu rivers offering gorgeous scenic views at every turn.
Day3 Thimphu Sightseeing: Morning visit the Memorial Chorten and the 12th century Changangkha monastery. Drive up to Sangaygang for spectacular views of Thimphu valley, explore National Library and the Institute of traditional arts & crafts. Visit the Handicrafts Emporium for shopping. Lunch serve at the hotel. After lunch visit Semtokha Dzong, the first Dzong built by Zhabdrung in 1629 and Tashi Chhodzong - the capital Dzong of Bhutan where thrown of the King and various important offices of the Ministers and office of Chief Abbot.
Day4 Thimphu-Punakha (3 ½ hrs): 3½ hours drive to Punakha will lead you through blue pines and across the Dochula pass (3080mtrs) for a spectacular view of the eastern range Himalayas. Have a cup of hot tea/ coffee at cafeteria and resume your journey. After lunch, visit the Punakha Dzong, the old capital of Bhutan and explore the Wandiphodrang Dzong and its small town.
Day5 Wangdue / Punakha-Thimphu: Morning drive to Khamsum Yulley and acclimatize through the country side in Punakha. Late afternoon visit Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of fertility) built on spectacular site in 1449 and drive back to Thimphu.
Day6 Thimphu-Paro (2 hrs): 2hrs drive to Paro for hike to Taktsang monastery, Bhutan’s famous pilgrimage perched precariously atop rock overlooking Paro valley. Lunch will serve at cafeteria. Taktsang meaning Tiger’s nest. The round trip hike takes about four hrs. Free to stroll in Paro town in the evening. Day7 Bhutan-Katmandu After an early breakfast representative of Bhutan Luethag Adventures will drive you to Paro Airport to see off onto your onward destination and receive you by our counterpart guide in Katmandu with humble and escort to lodge.
