15 Days. Actual Meditation for 7 Days
Seasons: March to May & September to November
Day 1 Arrive Bagdogra Indian Airline. Get the connecting flight in Jet Airways to Bagdogra from where Bhutanese escort from Lhuethag Adventure will warmly receive you and transfer to Phuntsholing (4 hours drive). Check in hotel. Evening stroll in the Phuntsholing border town.
Day 2 Phuntsholing - Thimphu (7 hrs / 175 km distance). After an early breakfast drive to Thimphu up on several zigs. It is interesting to see how vegetation changes from wet sub-tropical to the warm temperate. Tall waterfalls, small red monkeys and languor are some of the things you would see along the way. You will pass through the newly developed township at Gedu and the bird’s eye view of Chukha hydropower colony and eventually to the confluence where a road from Phuntsholing, Thimphu, Paro and Haa meets. Finally, you will arrive in Thimphu, capital of Bhutan. Overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 3 Thimphu Sightseeing. After breakfast, drive to National Memorial Chorten built in 1974, to honour the memory of the late king and Changangkha Lhakhang built in 12th century. Visit the Takin (national animal) preservation Sangay gang for spectacular view of Capital City. Drop by Drupthog Goenpa nunnery, Painting School and National Library & Folk Heritage. Visit Tashi Chhodzong, Textile Museum and Handicraft Emporium. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4 Thimphu – Phajoding Monastery (4 hrs). Phajoding can be seen from the windows of the hotel river-view and Jamyang Resort in Thimphu. It is high in the mountain and believed to be holy replica of Rajgir (Byagoe Phungpori) in India where the Lord Buddha had conducted multiple sermons. Trekking to Phajoding and meditating for a while would rinse away all the misfortunes. Camp near the monastery. Overnight at the camp. If we reach early, we can still hike above the monastery for 2 hours to watch the lake. Overnight at camp.
Day 5 - 11 Meditation begins…
Day 12 Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdiphodrang (3 ˝ hrs). Morning drive to Punakha. On route visit Traditional Paper Factory and drop at Dochula Pass (3080mtrs) for a hot cup of tea / coffee. Enjoy the most spectacular view of the eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. Enroute Chhimi Lhakhang (temple of fertility) built on a spectacular site in 1499 by Ngawang Chogyel. After lunch, visit Punakha Dzong, the old capital of Bhutan. Take a drive along the upstream river valley. You will see the white bellied heron along the river valleys. It is globally an endanger bird species. Take a short walk to Khamsum Yullley temple built on a hillock overlooking the valley. Overnight stay at hotel in Punakha.
Day 13 Punakha – Paro via Wangdiphodrang (4 ˝ hrs). Morning drive to Wangdiphodrang that is typical small Bhutanese town, with bustling market and well-stocked shops. The place is also known for its fine bamboo works, slate and stone carvings, and yak diary research station. Wangdue is the town’s most visible feature, situated majestically at the junction of Puna Chu and Dang Chu rivers. After lunch, drive to Paro on route visiting village house. Overnight stay at hotel in Paro
Day 14 Sightseeing In Paro. Today's full day sight seeing in Paro valley includes, visit to Ta Dzong, the National Museum (watch tower), the Paro Rimpung Dzong built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. After lunch drive to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1649 by the Zhabdrung to commemorate Bhutanese victory over the Tibetan in war of 1644. Enroute visit to Kyichu Lhakhang (built by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century). Overnight stay at hotel in Paro
Day 15 After early breakfast drive to Paro Airport for see off.
